Want to Find Out More?

Would you like to find out more about gravity powered soapbox and sidecar racing in Scotland? Interested in taking up the challenge of building and racing your own gravity racer, or perhaps thinking of running your own cartie race? If so, visit the Scottish Cartie Association's web site for a wealth of information for gravity racers and race organisers alike.

Register for CSEx2012

Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme 2012 will be held on Friday 13th & Saturday 14th July 2012. The format will be the same as previous years, with mandatory scrutineering and briefings during the day on Friday followed by practice and qualifying runs on Friday evening. The elimination heats on Saturday evening. There will also be run-off fr those not making it through to the finals so every team will get the same number of runs and an overall position.

The Great Cartie Survey

We're trying to get a handle on the normal range for cartie statistics (weight, ballast, dimensions, etc) in order to assess the likely impact of any rule changes and also to give guidance to new teams on what sort of size and weight they should aim for.

We've set up an online survey to capture the information, and if you have a few minutes spare it'd be really helpful if you could fill it in. Once you've completed it, you'll be able to see a summary of the results gathered so far.

Raising Money for Good Causes

Soapy BoxIt's not just about the silverware at Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme. This year, two teams will also be trying to raise as much money as possible for good causes.

Nae Midgies!

Smidge that Midge! In previous years the fearsome highland midgie has been an intense irritation at CSEx, but this year things will be different.

CSEx2011 Tee Shirt

Want to be the envy of cartie racers everywhere? Get yourself to eBay and pick up one of our limited edition and exclusive tee shirts. Only £12.50 each plus p&p (or you can collect them on the day and save the postage).

Alternatively, if you want a free tee shirt with an exclusive "Extreme Marshall" design on the back, then volunteer to help out. Marshall's tee shirts are not available for sale and never will be.The only way to get one is to be a CSEx marshall.

Bentley Crash Out

With only a month to go until CSEx2011, Bentley have had a disasterous crash in pre-race practice which has left their cartie needing a complete rebuild. Fortunately there were no injuries, but with no time left to build a new chassis they have had to withdraw from the event.

This leaves one place available for anyone brave enough to take on the biggest and most extreme gravity race in the UK.

Be Part of CSEx2011 and CSEx2012!

Although CSEx is now full, there is still chance for you to get involved. We are looking for tow vehicles and drivers and volunteers to help marshall the course from 5 until about 10.30 on Friday 1st and/or Saturday 2nd July.

The duties are quite straightforward and you'll be given a full briefing and all the necessary equipment and you'll also get a great trackside view of the action.
