Entry Forms Available from 1st Feb

Entry forms for the 4th Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme will be available from 1st February 2012. As with previous years, places will be strictly limited and will be allocated on a "first paid, first served" basis. Last year, all places were gone within 48 hours.

As promised last year, the teams and individuals that helped out with marshaling or in other ways at CSEx2011 have been sent entry forms already to give them chance to get in ahead of the rush and guarantee their place. If you have not received one of these "early bird" entry form but believe you should have, please get in touch as soon as possible.

Please note that the tech' spec' for soapbox and gravity sidecar have recently been revised to clarify some of the points raised after they were published back in November. The latest new versions are now available on our downloads page.

2012 Tech' Spec' Published

The technical specification for the Soapbox Cartie and Gravity Sidecar classes for Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme 2012 are now available for download. We hope to have entry forms available online within the next two weeks.

They have both been revised from last year - substantially so in the case of the soapbox rules - so competitors should read them thoroughly to ensure they are eligible to compete.

The changes have been  made primarily to increase safety without unduly affecting the nature of the event and without making it prohibitively expensive to organise. The changes are relatively easy to achieve for existing machines and are also 'reversible' so will not put teams at a disadvantage at other events. The main changes are;

The Great Cartie Survey

We're trying to get a handle on the normal range for cartie statistics (weight, ballast, dimensions, etc) in order to assess the likely impact of any rule changes and also to give guidance to new teams on what sort of size and weight they should aim for.

We've set up an online survey to capture the information, and if you have a few minutes spare it'd be really helpful if you could fill it in. Once you've completed it, you'll be able to see a summary of the results gathered so far.

Revised Rules Available

The revised rules for CSEx2011 have been published and are available on our downloads page. The Gravity Sidecar specification is unchanged from last year, and the changes to the cartie requirements are relatively minor.

Entry forms will be available online from Monday 1st November.

Competition Rules Published

The updated rules for the 2010 Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme have been published and are available on the downloads page. They have been revised following a review in the light of experience gained at last year's event, although the only significant alterations are in order to incorporate the new Gravity Sidecar class.

Entry Forms Available Online

The entry form and construction specifications for the 2010 Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme are now available online.

The number of entries is limited and we will be allocating places on a"first come, first served" basis. Entries have already been sent out to our mailing list, which contains 74 email addresses, so it would seem likely that we will be oversubscribed. Get your entry forms and fees in as soon as possible to avoid being disappointed!

Good luck, and happy Christmas!

Competition Rules

The exact structure of the event is dependent on the number of teams taking part, but the objective will be to maximize the number of runs for every cart.

A rough outline for the competition is;
