Construction Tips

CSEx is not like other soapbox races. The course is 2 miles long and has some significant bends which you will approach at high speed. Your cartie will experience high side loads when cornering, which can cause problems such as oversteer, buckled wheels, loss of control or even rolling over.Carties can reach speeds of over 60mph in places, and for the safety of competitors, event crew and spectators we require a high standard of contruction. You can't just lash something together from planks and old pram wheels and expect it to pass the pre-race safety inspection.

Cairngorm Soapbox Timetable

The timetable for Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme 2010 is shown below. All teams must present their vehicle for inspection in the overflow car park of Cairngorm Mountain Visitor Centre between 12.00 and 15.00 on Friday 23rd July 2010. Those living near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire can contact us to make arrangements to have their machines inspected before then if they wish.

New Course Confirmed

The revised course for Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme 2010 has been confirmed. The fearsome hairpin has been replaced by "The Switch", a brutal high speed right/left combination with an off camber blind apex. We don't call it "extreme" for nothing - at over 2 miles in length and with top speeds in excess of 60mph, there is nothing like this anywhere else in the Britain.

Full details, including a course map, profile, estimated speeds and onboard video of the entire track, can be found here.
